A small team with a long view.
Faomu is a software engineering company in London. We build internal systems for organisations that cannot afford for them to fail.

Sophisticated inside. Simple to use.
Faomu is a word we made for a quality we look for in good tools: sophisticated in what it can do, simple and natural in use. The complexity belongs inside the system, where engineers can manage it. It should never be handed to the people who use it.
Our standards come from manufacturing rather than from software fashion. The best precision instruments and the best industrial design share something: a great deal of engineering, and almost none of it on show. Two ideas from Japanese manufacturing describe how we try to work. Monozukuri: making things with care and pride in their quality. Kaizen: improving them a little, every day, after they ship.
Five values, each one a working rule.
- 01
Precision
Clear intent. Measured decisions. Verified outcomes.
- 02
Simplicity
Less complexity. Better abstractions. Only what is necessary.
- 03
Reliability
Systems that perform. Designed for failure. Built to endure.
- 04
Craftsmanship
Carefully made. Details that are never seen. Pride in the work.
- 05
Continuous improvement
Measure. Learn. Refine. Every day.
Why a small team is the safer choice.
Senior people do the work.
Every engagement is led by an engineer who has built systems of the same kind. There is no hand-off between the people who agree the work and the people who do it.
A limited number of engagements.
We take on a small number of clients at a time, so the ones we accept have our full attention, and we can say no when we are not the right team.
Our size is never your risk.
The system, the code and the documentation are yours from the first day. If we were gone tomorrow, your team would have everything it needs.
We hire engineers who would rather delete code than add it.
If that describes you, write to [email protected] with something you have built and what you would change about it now.
A more disciplined tomorrow.
If your organisation depends on a system that deserves more care than it gets, we would like to hear about it.
